Football rules & Africa: some insights

We recently had a discussion about ‘football rules & Africa’. The panelist analyzed the rules by FIFA and how they appear to be skewed against Africa. The panelist also notes some developments in sports law. For example, the panelist mentions use of competition law to avoid abuse of power by football clubs. Moreover, the panelist mentions a court decision that has dealt with a sports dispute. He also mentions some areas that legally can be pursued in case of sports disputes.

A different area of interest that came up is how corruption within Africa affects the sports in Africa. We plan to have a more detailed discussion on this aspect and what solutions may exist for Africa. You can join us for future discussions through our invites shared on our LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook pages.
